Do you want to get your message across quickly and consistently across the organisation?

Try the iceberg analogy.

I was working with a client in WHS recently and they wanted to roll out a clear message across the company. ‘How do we roll it out consistently?’ he asked.

I had a flash back to my years in sales and working with the marketing team with a product launch.

We came up with

Must say…

  • The important facts and evidence

Should Say…

  • The story behind it to increase engagement and make it memorable

If you have time say…

  • Ask questions and get their thoughts about the product and how they would use it.

Here’s an example

Must say – Facts & evidence

The trailer coupling hook was missing a pin – this is not acceptable.

Should say – Stories

Explain the lead up to the event, describe what went wrong and what the outcome may have been if the 3-tonne trailer had come detached from the truck.

If you have time – Workshop it

Get your team to discuss and produce solutions for preventing it happening again.

Try it in your next meeting and let me know how you go
